A
mugen noh play in the desert, that begins the moment the sun disappears on the horizon.
At the far edge of a dry lakebed, three ghosts appear, all different forms of the Japanese folklore
yōkai,
Yama-uba, a crone with mouths under her hair. In this play, her spirit has been trapped in different bodies, including a shaman cowboy older than dirt, and the ghost of his younger self. Her true form also makes an appearance.
Written and directed by Johanna Hedva. Performed by Joe Seely, Arne Gjelten, and Nickels Sunshine.
Poster designed by Willem Henri Lucas.
